நாம் யார்
கனடாத் தமிழ்க் கல்லூரியானது கனேடிய ஒன்றிய அரசில் வருவாய் நோக்கற்ற நிறுவனமாகப் பதிவு செய்யப் பெற்ற ஒரு நிறுவனமாகும். கனடாவாழ் தமிழ்ச் சிறாருக்குத் தமிழ் மொழி, தமிழ் இலக்கியம், தமிழர் வரலாறு, தமிழர் பண்பாடு மற்றும் விழுமியங்கள் பற்றி அறிவூட்டுவதும் அவற்றைப் பேணுவதற்குத் துணைபுரிவதும் இக்கல்லூரியின் அடிப்படைக் குறிக்கோள்களாகும்.
இக்கல்லூரியானது, தமிழ்த் தொடக்கநிலைப் பிரிவு, தமிழ்த் திறமைநெறிப் பிரிவு, தமிழியற் பட்டப்படிப்புப் பிரிவு, தமிழ் நுண்கலைப் பிரிவு, பாடத்திட்டம் மற்றும் வினைத்திறன் மேம்பாட்டுப் பிரிவு, தேர்வுப் பிரிவு என ஆறு பிரிவுகளைக் கொண்டு இயங்கி வருகின்றது.
தமிழ்த் திறமைநெறிப் பிரிவு
ஒன்பதாம் வகுப்பு முதல் பன்னிரண்டாம் வகுப்பு வரையான மாணவருக்குத் திறமைநெறி வகுப்புகளை ஒன்பது இடங்களில் நடத்தி வருகின்றோம். கல்லூரியின் நோக்கங்களை நிறைவேற்றும் வண்ணம் ஆக்கப் பெற்ற பாடநூல்களையே இவ்வகுப்புகளிலும் கற்பிக்கின்றோம். இவ்வகுப்புகளில் கற்பதால் மாணவருக்கு வழமையான பள்ளி வேலைப் பளுவைக் குறைக்கவும் மூன்று திறமைத் தேர்ச்சிகளைப் பெறவும் பல்கலைக்கழக நுழைவுக்கான மதிப்பெண்களை உயர்த்தவும் புலமைப் பரிசில்களைப் பெறவும் வாய்ப்புக் கிடைக்கின்றது. எல்லாவற்றுக்கும் மேலாக இக்கற்கைநெறினானது தமிழ் மற்றும் தமிழர் பற்றிய ஆழ்ந்து அகன்ற அறிவைப் பெறவும் உதவுகின்றது. இப்பயிற்சி நெறியை ரொரன்ரோக் கத்தோலிக்கக் கல்விச்சபையோடு இணைந்து நடத்தி வருகிறோம்.
தமிழியற் பட்டப்படிப்புப் பிரிவு
தமிழ்மொழி,தமிழிலக்கியம்,தமிழ்க் கலைகள்,தமிழர் வரலாறு,யோகா என்பன பற்றிய அறிவை பெருக்க விழைவோர்க்கு ஒரு வாய்ப்பை வழங்கும் நோக்கோடும் அவற்றை எதிர்காலத்தில் கனடாவில் கற்பிக்க வல்ல நல்லாசிரியரை உருவாக்க வேண்டுமென்ற விருப்போடும் தமிழியல் பட்டப்படிப்பை நடத்தி வருகிறோம். இவ்வகுப்புகளில் மரபு அடிப்படையிலான தமிழ் இலக்கிய – இலக்கணங்கள் பண்பாட்டுக் கூறுகள்சார் பாடங்கள் தமிழர் கலைகள் மட்டுமன்றி வேலை வாய்ப்புத் தேவைகளைக் கருத்திற் கொண்ட பாடங்களும் கற்பிக்கப்படுகின்றன. இவ்வகையில் கற்பித்தலியல் ஊடகவியல் மொழிபெயர்ப்பியல் ஆங்கிலம் முதலிய பாடங்களையும் உள்ளடக்கியதாக இக்கற்கைநெறி அமைந்துள்ளது.
தமிழ் நுண்கலைப் பிரிவு
கடந்த பல நூற்றாண்டுகளாகத் தமிழ் மக்களால் பயிலப்பட்டும் பேணப்பட்டும் வரும் தமிழிசை தமிழ் ஆடற்கலை மற்றும் தமிழ் இன்னியங்களைக் கனடாத் தமிழ் மாணவரும் பயில வேண்டும் என்ற நோக்கோடு தொடக்கப்பட்டதே இந்நுண்கலைப் பிரிவாகும். இப்பிரிவானது தொடக்க நிலை முதல் பன்னிரெண்டாம் வகுப்பு வரையான வகுப்புகளை நடத்தி வருவதோடு தேர்வுகளையும் நடத்தி வருகிறது. தமிழ் ஆடற்கலை தமிழிசை தமிழர் இன்னியங்கள் ஆகியன பல்கலைக்கழக நுழைவுக்குப் பாடங்களாகக் கற்பிக்கப்படுகின்றன.
பாடத்திட்டம் மற்றும் வினைத்திறன் மேம்பாட்டுப் பிரிவு
மழலையர் வகுப்பு முதல் பட்டப்படிப்பு வரையான தமிழ்ப் பாடநெறிகளைக் கற்பிப்பதற்கு வேண்டிய பாடத்திட்டங்கள், பாடநூல்கள், பயிற்சி நூல்கள் முதலியவற்றைத் தனித்தும் பன்னாட்டு அமைப்புகளோடு இணைந்தும் ஆக்கி வருவதோடு, தமிழ்மொழி கற்பிக்கும் ஆசிரியரது வினைத்திறனை மேம்படுத்தும் நோக்கோடு பயிற்சிப் பட்டறைகள், கருத்தரங்குகள், பணிக்காலப் பயிற்சிகள் முதலியவற்றையும் நடத்தி வருகின்றோம்.
தேர்வுப் பிரிவு
கனடாவில் வாழும் தமிழ்ச் சிறார் தமது பள்ளிப் பாடங்களில் சிறந்து விளங்க ஊக்குவிக்கும் நோக்கோடு கணிதம் அறிவியல் பிரெஞ்சு மற்றும் ஆங்கிலமொழித் திறன் தேர்வுகளை ஆண்டுதோறும் நடத்தி வருகின்றோம். இத்தேர்வுகள் ஒன்ராறியோ அரசின் பாடத்திட்டத்துக்கு அமைய ஒன்ராறியோ ஆசிரியரது வழிகாட்டலில் நடத்தப்படுகின்றன. மேலும் மாணவரது திறன்களை மேம்படுத்தும் நோக்கோடு ஆங்கில மொழியிலான சொல்வண்டு மற்றும் பொது அறிவுப் போட்டியையும் நடத்தி வருகின்றோம்.
விழாக்கள்
கனடாத் தமிழ்ச் சிறாரிடையே புதைந்து கிடக்கும் பேச்சு எழுத்து ஆடல் பாடல் நடிப்பு முதலிய ஆற்றல்களை வெளிக்கொண்டுவரக் களம் அமைத்துக் கொடுக்கும் நோக்கோடு பல விழாக்களை நடத்தி வருகின்றோம். அவ்வகையில் இளமழலை முதல் எட்டாம் வகுப்புவரைப் படிக்கும் மாணவரது ஆடல் பாடல் பேச்சு மற்றும் நடிப்பு ஆற்றல்களை வெளிக்கொண்டு வரும் பொருட்டாக ‘நாற்றுமேடை’ என்ற நிகழ்ச்சியையும் ஒன்பது முதல் பன்னிரெண்டாம் வகுப்புவரைப் படிக்கும் மாணவரது ஆடல் பாடல் பேச்சு மற்றும் நடிப்பு ஆற்றல்களை வெளிக்கொண்டு வரும் பொருட்டாக ‘அறுவடை’ என்ற நிகழ்ச்சியையும் கனடாத் தமிழ்க் கல்லூரி ஆண்டுதோறும் நடத்தி வருகின்றது. மேலும் நுண்கலைத் தேர்வுகளுக்குத் தோற்றும் மாணவருக்குப் பரிசளிப்பு மற்றும் விருது வழங்கும் விழாக்களையும் ஆண்டுதோறும் நடத்தி வருகின்றது.
About Us
The Canadian Tamil Academy is a federally registered Non-for-profit organization in Canada. Established in 1993, CTA prides itself in being a pioneer organization in preserving and cultivating the beauty of the Tamil language, literature, culture and history within the diaspora community. CTA’s mission is to educate and empower upcoming generations of Canadian Tamils to connect with their language and identity. The CTA strives to achieve its mandate through various programs catered to enrich knowledge and engagement with the Tamil language, literature, culture and history.
The programs within the academy are divided into six divisions as listed below:

Tamil Language Programs
The Tamil language programs offered by the CTA follow an international curriculum that is offered to students across the globe. This unique international curriculum is shared globally to ensure that the Tamil language is preserved and taught in its purest form. The international curriculum provides the Tamil diaspora to engage in learning that unites them together through the beauty of language. Students are able to engage with this curriculum through textbooks and varying materials to assist learning. Textbooks and additional educational resources highlight and trace Tamil history, culture, traditions and lifestyle to the Tamil diaspora globally.
Secondary Credit Course Program:
The secondary credit course Tamil language program is offered to students from grades nine to twelve. The credit course Tamil language program was one of the first initiatives begun by the CTA in 1996. This program originally began with only two classes and has now grown to 46 classes at 9 campuses, in partnership with the Toronto Catholic District School Board, in and around the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). In this program, students have an opportunity to delve deeper into Tamil language, literature, culture and history.
In addition to expanding their knowledge of the Tamil language, students are also able to use successfully completed courses as credits that count towards fulfilling their Ontario Secondary School Diploma requirements. Students can acquire 3 credits including a grade 12 U level credit that can be used towards university entrance requirements.
Tamil Degree Program:
In addition to Tamil Language programs at the elementary and secondary levels, the CTA has also been conducting classes for Diplomas, Bachelors and Masters degrees in Tamil language, Fine Arts and Yoga since 1999. This program aims to provide a learning space for those who intend to broaden their knowledge of Tamil Studies and delve deeper into research within this field. In doing so, the CTA strives to empower and encourage students to become teachers of Tamil Studies in Canada.
Fine Arts Program
Through the Fine Arts Program, students are able to experience Tamil culture by engaging in traditional forms of music and dance. This program offers a variety of courses to choose from such as dance, vocal, and traditional Tamil instruments. The Fine Arts Program is open to all students ranging from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12. The CTA also conducts its own grading and certification program for dance, vocal and various instruments. Similar to the Tamil Language: Credit Course Program, students enrolled in the secondary Dance, Vocal or traditional Tamil instruments credit program are able to use their successfully completed credits towards the completion of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma requirements. The grade 12 U level Fine Arts courses can be used for university admissions.
Curriculum and Skill Development Program
The Curriculum and Skill Development Program is a specialized program for current and aspiring CTA teachers. This program emphasizes curriculum design for the Tamil Language programs as well as developing textbooks, examination papers and other resources. In addition, this program offers various seminars and workshops to further develop the skills and pedagogy of our talented teachers.
Competitive Examinations
The CTA also offers various opportunities for students to engage in friendly competitions in various divisions of Tamil, English, Math, Science and French that are based on the Ontario Curriculum. In addition, the CTA annually hosts Spelling Bee and General Knowledge contests. These competitions provide a platform for Canadian Tamil students to show off their knowledge and strengths as well as build their confidence in Tamil and English.
